Grade Level/ Format: This series is designed for grades 6, 7, and 8. The books are labeled Grade 6, Grade 7, and Grade 8.
Activities: In a typical chapter, students read a brief passage relevant to the mathematics concepts in the chapter and engage in a discussion with the teacher about related mathematics connections and prior knowledge. Each chapter also includes supplemental manipulative activities, a teamwork project designed to apply the mathematics in the chapter, and math fun activities and challenges. In each lesson, students (1) read an opening passage with real-life examples and illustrations of the mathematics ideas, (2) answer related questions, and (3) work through guided and independent practice exercises. Some lessons include problem solving, and computer connections, visual thinking, critical  thinking, and multicultural connections activities.
Assessment: Assessment includes review options (quick check and double check), guided and independent practice exercises, an oral wrap up, and reteaching, practice, and enrichment worksheets for each lesson. Optional pretests and posttests, and cumulative reviews, chapter reviews, and chapter tests are intended for formal assessment. Other assessment tools include suggestions for performance assessments and portfolios.
