Activities: |
|
In a typical chapter, students read the mathematical
ideas to be covered in the chapter along with real-world context for the mathematics to be
presented and are introduced to a chapter project. Each chapter also includes problem
solving practice activities and lessons on CD-ROM. In each lesson, students (1) read a
statement of the lesson objective(s) and prior knowledge needed, (2) read about and
discuss the mathematical ideas, (3) read and work together through a demonstration of the
mathematical skills or procedures, and (4) work through guided practice and independent
practice exercises. |

Assessment: |
|
Assessment includes guided and independent practice, a
math minutes exercise, mixed review problems, and extra practice activities for daily
assessment. Formal assessment includes checkpoint worksheets and chapter tests. Other
tools for assessment include chapter wrap ups, chapter assessments, and cumulative review
pages, student self-assessment surveys, and the chapter project. |
