Grade Level/ Format: This series is designed for grades 6, 7, and 8. The books are labeled Course 1, Course 2, and Course 3.
Activities: In a typical chapter, students read the mathematical ideas to be covered in the chapter along with real-world context for the mathematics to be presented and are introduced to a chapter project. Each chapter also includes problem solving practice activities and lessons on CD-ROM. In each lesson, students (1) read a statement of the lesson objective(s) and prior knowledge needed, (2) read about and discuss the mathematical ideas, (3) read and work together through a demonstration of the mathematical skills or procedures, and (4) work through guided practice and independent practice exercises.
Assessment: Assessment includes guided and independent practice, a math minutes exercise, mixed review problems, and extra practice activities for daily assessment. Formal assessment includes checkpoint worksheets and chapter tests. Other tools for assessment include chapter wrap ups, chapter assessments, and cumulative review pages, student self-assessment surveys, and the chapter project.
