Subject Area:   Integrated Mathematics

Grade Level/ Format:   This integrated series is designed for grades 9-11. Each grade level is divided into two books, a and b. The books are labeled 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b, 3a, and 3b. Each book is divided into chapters, which are divided into several sub-sections.

Activities:   Activities are a combination of teacher-student and student- student interactions. In each chapter, students read a profile about an individual who uses mathematics in his or her everyday work. In each section of the chapter, students (1) read expected learning outcomes; (2) are introduced to a concept by thinking about what they already know, which prompts discussion; (3) read commentary and explanations to support the discussion; and (4) answer questions in the section's problem set.

Assessment:   Assessments include section quizzes and chapter tests. "Do this now" and "Discuss this" questions, and "Write this" exercises are found throughout the text. These can be used to assess students' progress as they move through a lesson.
