Identifying Students’ Chemistry Misconceptions
The peer-reviewed online journal Chemistry Education Research and Practice has just published a new article by Project 2061 research associate Cari Herrmann-Abell and deputy director George DeBoer. Using Distractor-Driven Standards-Based Multiple-Choice Assessments and Rasch Modeling to Investigate Hierarchies of Chemistry Misconceptions and Detect Structural Problems with Individual Items focuses on a key aspect of Project 2061's assessment research and development effort funded by the National Science Foundation. Founding of AAAS Project 2061 Commemorated by Carnegie Corporation of New York
Marking its 100th anniversary, the Carnegie Corporation of New York has produced a collection of vignettes that offer a glimpse at the institution’s accomplishments over nearly a century. Among the “Centennial Moments” being celebrated is Carnegie’s support for the founding of AAAS Project 2061 in 1985 as “an ambitious effort to recast pre-collegiate education in science, mathematics, and technology…” Read more.
