Application for a workshop scholarship
Criteria for awarding scholarships
The following criteria will be used to select workshop awardees:
- Level of Interest. Consideration will be given
to applicants who demonstrate a high level of interest and/or involvement
in science and/or mathematics education at the local, state, national
or international levels. Applicants will be required to submit some
documentation of this interest in their application (see questions
7 and 8).
- Need. Consideration will be given to applicants
who demonstrate a need for financial support, taking into account
the possibility of support from other sources. Consideration will
also be given to the needs of postdoctoral students and students.
This consideration will be based on the statements and information
provided by individuals on their applications.
- Equity and Geographical Distribution. The selection
committee will seek participants who represent diversity in the education
system, in particular with respect to under-represented groups. The
committee will also seek participants from different levels of science
and/or mathematics education, making a special effort to include
classroom teachers and educators from all areas across the United
States.
- Potential for Sharing. The selection committee
will seek applicants who have considered how their participation
can benefit others and who offer concrete ways in which they will
share the knowledge gained at the workshop.
Once the committee has selected scholarship/grant recipients, all
applicants will be notified via telephone, e-mail, or regular US mail.
