Using Atlas of Science Literacy

AAAS Offering Scholarships for Project 2061 Professional Development Workshops!

AAAS Project 2061 is pleased to offer a limited number of scholarships to educators who wish to enroll in these professional development opportunities.

The three-day workshops, hosted by AAAS Project 2061, introduce teachers, administrators, curriculum developers, university faculty, and other specialists to the two-volume Atlas of Science Literacy and other Project 2061 resources. Published by AAAS Project 2061 and the National Science Teachers Association, Atlas of Science Literacy is a collection of conceptual strand maps that display the connections among key ideas and skills and the sequence in which K-12 students might develop their understanding of nearly 100 key topics in science, mathematics, and technology.

The Atlas workshops, offered a few times each year, have been enthusiastically received all over the country, with participants saying they have gained a new perspective on teaching and learning. Participants will now be able to receive complimentary workshop registrations through special scholarships supported by the AAAS Fund for Excellence program. AAAS Project 2061 is now able to offer a limited number of scholarships to selected educators who will receive complimentary workshop registrations.

Awardees will be selected based on their level of interest in science and/or mathematics education at the local, state, national, or international levels; their need for financial support; and their potential for sharing with others the knowledge gained at the workshop. The selection committee will also seek participants from diverse backgrounds and geographic areas. Please refer to the table below for scholarship application deadlines.
