Lester Matlock, Administration Director

Lester Matlock is the administration director for Project 2061 of the American
Association for the Advancement of Science. He is responsible for the project's
personnel administration and finance.
Previously, Matlock was an administrative associate for the National Academy
Press (NAP) from 1986 to 1992, the publishing arm for the National
Academy of Sciences. He was
responsible for the financial management of "for sale" publications. The Press
published 40 to 60 new titles each year, and had a backlist of 700 trade,
scholarly, and professional titles in all areas of science, technology,
health, and public policy.
Matlock was the administrative assistant for the NAP from 1972 to 1985; his
responsibilities included providing monthly financial information
and background
analyses for special projects to senior managers. He also assisted in the
launch of the Academy's award-winning national science and technology
policy
journal, Issues in Science and Technology.
In an earlier position, Matlock was the production manager for the Academy's
members' journal, The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
He received a B.A. in personnel management/labor relations from the University
of Maryland.
