Cari Herrmann Abell joined AAAS Project 2061 in 2005 as a postdoctoral fellow for the Center for Curriculum Materials in Science. She came to Project 2061 from the University of Colorado at Boulder, where she was a postdoctoral research associate in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. Her previous experience includes serving as a graduate research assistant and teaching assistant in the Department of Chemistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Herrmann Abell holds a Ph.D. in physical chemistry and materials science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a B.S. in chemistry and mathematics from Muhlenberg College.
